Julie Helles (b. 1991, Denmark) is a textile and color designer working within the fields of art and design. Growing up, she became acquainted with textiles and sewing at a very early age. Today, her most explored tool is the sewing machine, which she continues to experiment with in search of unconventional ways of expression. In 2019, she obtained an MA in Contextual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
Julie Helles’ work is driven by a deep curiosity for experimenting with her craft. She approaches her practice with a meticulous and detail-oriented mindset. She explores tools, materials, and new technologies. Her work embodies the sensitivity of her craftsmanship and individual presence.
Next to running her own studio, Helles works for renowned color and textile designer Margrethe Odgaard, where she has continued to build on her solid and profound understanding of textiles and color since graduating in 2019.
Julie Helles’ work has been presented internationally — in cities such as Milan, Paris, Berlin, and Copenhagen.
Gratefully supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.
